Questions about FAQ schema
Where do I paste the FAQ schema script?
Paste it into the HTML of the page that shows the questions, in the head or anywhere in the body. Most CMS platforms have a custom code or header script field for this. Don't add it to pages without those FAQs.
Do the questions in the schema have to match my page?
Yes. Google asks that structured data describes content people can see on the page. Use the same questions and answers as your visible FAQ, word for word if you can.
Will FAQ schema give me rich results in Google?
Probably not. In 2023 Google limited FAQ rich results to well-known government and health websites. The markup can still help search engines and other tools read your questions and answers, but Google may not show anything extra for it.
Can I use HTML inside the answers?
Google allows a few basic tags in answers, such as links, lists and bold text. Plain text is the safest choice. This generator treats what you type as plain text and escapes it for you.
How do I check the FAQ markup after adding it?
Run the page through Google's Rich Results Test or the Schema Markup Validator at validator.schema.org. Both show whether the JSON-LD parses and which items they found.
